• Department of Neurosurgery

  Neurosurgery Department №2 (department of vertebrology, spine surgery) was opened on the 1^st of October, 2015. In Gomel region the first operation on spine was carried out on the 20th of May, 1980.

  The Department for 40 beds is situated on the 3^rd floor of the main building of Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital.  All rooms of the department were repaired in 2015 using the principles of «barrier-free environment» for disabled patients who can’t properly move by themselves and carry out daily tasks.

  Specialists of the department do operations on all regions of spine (neck, chest,   dorsolumbar). Since 2013 physicians of Regional Clinical Hospital conducted thousands of operations on spine.

  Operative interventions conducted at the department:

  • operative interventions at spine fractures
  • operative interventions at degenerative disk diseases
  • operations at tumors, inflammatory spondylopathies, inborn spine pathology

• Department of surgery

  Specialists of the surgery department conduct the following:

  • the whole spectrum of video laparoscopic operations on abdominal cavity organs
  • operative treatment of thyroid diseases and congenital malformations (medius and brancial cysts)
  • modern tension-free and laparoscopic methods of operative treatment of hernias of anterior abdominal wall and diaphragm hernias
  • reconstructive interventions on stomach, biliary tracts,             pancreatic gland
  • the whole spectrum of minimally invasive interventions at varicosity, including laser coagulation, microphlebectomy,             sclerotherapy
  • plastic operations, including ultrasound liposuction of problem areas and abdominalplasty

  Surgical interventions are conducted in 3 specious operation rooms, equipped with modern hi-tech devices: two laparoscopic devices (Karl Shtorts), electric knife and electrocoagulator (Soring — MBC), ultrasound dissector for laparoscopic and           open surgeries (Autosonix), ultrasound dissector for liposuction (Sonoca), computer assisted electrocoagulator for open and laparoscopic operations (LigaSure), which help to carry out minimally invasive and organ-preserving operative interventions.

• Department of Urology

  Specialists of the department apply modern methods of examination and treatment of urological pathology, either in adults or children.

  Annually, more than 3000 of patients receive highly-qualified medical care, physicians conduct about 3000 operations.

  Urologists carry out all kinds of operations, including congenital pathology of urogenital system. Minimally invasive operative interventions have become widespread at the department.

  Thanks to the device «Litoskop» 70% of patients with kidney stone disease are treated without application of surgery interventions by the method of distant shockwave lithotripsy.

  Physicians of urology department undertook internships in Germany, Japan, Italy.

  The department has 2 single rooms of Business class.

• Department of maxillofacial surgery

  The department was established in 1970 at the 1^st Soviet Hospital for 20 beds. Before this time patients of maxillofacial surgery were treated at neurosurgery department. Since 2002 the department has being headed by physician of superior expert category V.I.Sannikov.

  The department of maxillofacial surgery and dentistry is specialized in the treatment of traumas, pyoinflammatory diseases, congenital pathologies, nonmalignant malformations of maxillofacilal area.

  Over the last five years physicians of the department have prepared and published eight scientific works, have implemented three rationalization proposals. The latest methods of examination and treatment of patients with congenital pathology of maxillofacial area, reconstructive operations on bone-facial skeleton have been being implemented.

  The department is the only one in Gomel region.

• Department of otorhinolaryngology

  Specialists of the department carry out the following functions: rendering of planned and emergency medical care to patients, consultations of patients at regional advisory clinic and departments of the hospital; specialists of the department carry out tele-medical consultations of areas in the regions.

  The department is equipped with modern medical devices.

  Annually, about 1900-2000 of patients are treated at the department, more than 1500 of operative interventions (including cosmetic surgeries) and more than 100 of highly technological operations are carried out there.

  The department renders planned and emergency medical care to foreign citizens.

• Orthopedics and traumatology department

  The department has 70 beds, including standard rooms and rooms of enhanced comfort. There are two operation rooms, which are equipped with modern treatment and diagnostic devices and instruments.

  The department is also equipped with the following devices:       arthroscopic stand and electronic image converter, instrument and implant sets for intramedullary osteosintesis with blocking for operative treatment of femoral fractures, fractures of    shinbones, set instruments for total endoprosthesis of hip joint, knee joint and also implants and special instruments for operative treatment of      pelvic bones fractures,  electro- and endoscopic equipment.

  Every year specialists of the department conduct more than 1250 of different operations, including 200 hip joint endoprostheses and about 90 knee joint endoprostheses.

  The department is a clinical base of the department of orthopedics, traumatology and military surgery of Gomel State Medical University. Physicians of the department have made and implemented more than 200 rational original suggestions, many of which are actually considered to be inventions.

  6 patents of inventions (useful models) have been recieved, formulas of 2 inventions have been published, 2 monographs have been published «Emergency and Urgent Help at Severe Pelvis Traumas», «Severe pelvic damages. What is to be done?». More than 130 of works have been published.

  Physicians of the department have defended 1 Doctoral Thesis; 1 Candidate’s Thesis is being prepared. 4 specialists have higher qualifying category in orthopedics and traumatology.
