Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Cardiology is the leading health care center for cardiology and cardiac surgery of the Republic of Belarus.

  • Cardiac surgery

    Our Center is the leading health care facility for cardiology and cardiac surgery of the Republic of Belarus. Modern equipment and consumables allow performing a vast range of procedures at the premises of the Center, including the following:

    • surgical treatment of coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure (left ventricular reconstructive surgery, circulatory support systems implantation), congenital and acquired heart defects;
    • heart transplantation (the Center is one of the world leaders in terms of the number of transplants performed);
    • surgical correction of the pathology of the aorta and great vessels;
    • treatment of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (the Center is the developer and leader in the use of 3-D simulated myoseptectomy);
    • surgical treatment of multifocal atherosclerosis (atherosclerotic lesions of the coronary and brachiocephalic basins);
    • minimally invasive surgery for valvular heart disease and coronary heart disease;
    • surgical treatment of infective and prosthetic endocarditis, including the use of cryopreserved, decellularized allographs (the Center is one of the leaders in the use of this technology in the CIS).
  • Cardiology

    At the premises of the Center in 3 cardiology departments and in the day patient department, treatment and diagnosis of any cardiological pathology is carried out using high-tech equipment and modern techniques, including the following:

    • providing high-tech emergency care to patients with myocardial infarction and unstable angina, cardiomyopathies and other nosologies;
    • carrying out emergency restoration of blood flow in the coronary arteries: angioplasty and stenting, if necessary, immediate preparation for emergency cardiac surgery;
    • drug treatment and rehabilitation of patients with various cardiac pathologies with the use of new therapeutic approaches and modern medications;
    • treatment of patients with complex arrhythmias using the latest approaches;
    • preparation of patients for balloon angioplasty and stenting of coronary, renal, brachiocephalic arteries, arteries of the lower extremities;
    • diagnostic and medication preparation of patients with CHF for cardiac surgery and/or interventional treatment using modern therapeutic approaches;
    • preoperative preparation and postoperative management of patients after the use of alternative interventional methods for the correction of CHF (Ancora, Mitraclip, Bioventrix, TAVI, stem cell implantation, RFA of the sympathetic nerves of the renal arteries);
    • postoperative treatment and early rehabilitation of patients with complications in the postoperative period after reconstructive operations on the heart and blood vessels;
    • preoperative preparation, postoperative management, early rehabilitation and long-term treatment of patients after transplantation of the heart, lungs, heart-lung, heart-kidney, heart-liver complex, as well as before and after implantation of auxiliary circulatory systems (LVAD/BiVAD).
  • Vascular surgery

    In the field of vascular surgery, the following interventions are performed on the basis of the Center:

    • carotid endarterectomy;
    • brachiocephalic arterial reconstruction of the extracranial region;
    • resection of aneurysms of the aorta and brachiocephalic arteries with plasty and/or reconstruction;
    • bypass of the aorta and visceral arteries;
    • plastic surgery and reconstruction of the renal arteries;
    • aorto-iliac, aorto-femoral, ilio-femoral, femoral-femoral, femoral-popliteal bypass and reconstruction;
    • extraanatomical aortic bypass;
    • formation of an arteriovenous fistula using a synthetic prosthesis;
    • reconstructive surgery of the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, superior and inferior vena cava in primary tumors;
    • hybrid reconstructive interventions on the arteries of the upper and lower extremities;
    • ligation of the perforating veins of the lower extremities arteriovenous fistula;
    • excision and ligation of veins of the lower extremities;
    • removal of superficial veins of the lower limb, including thermal methods of ablation;
    • embolization of arteriovenous malformations, including laser technologies;
    • closure of an arteriovenous fistula.
  • Invasive Cardiology

    In the field of invasive cardiology, the following interventions are performed on the premises of the Center:

    • stenting of coronary arteries in complex types of stenosis: chronic occlusion (including retrograde access), bifurcation stenosis, stenosis of the trunk of the left coronary artery;
    • percutaneous coronary interventions in very high-risk patients using circulatory support systems (ECMO);
    • intravascular imaging and functional assessment (intravascular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, fractional flow reserve (FFR, iFR)). Coronary angioplasty using rotational thrombectomy (rotablation) and thromboaspiration;;
    • stenting using dissolvable vascular prostheses (scaffolds), drug-eluting stents, self-expanding nitinol stents;
    • stenting of brachiocephalic arteries, carotid, subclavian, peripheral and visceral arteries;
    • endoprosthetics (implantation of stent grafts) for acute and chronic aortic aneurysms;
    • endovascular aortic valve implantation (TAVI) using modern valve models (Medtronic Evolut R, Edwards Sapien 3, Abott Portico);
    • implantation of stem cells into the left ventricle myocardium of the heart based on the electromechanical mapping in patients with severe heart failure (NOGA technology);
    • endovascular closure of paraprosthetic fistulas using endovascular (transseptal) and hybrid (transapical) methods;
    • installation of temporary and permanent venous filters;
    • myocardial biopsy;
    • endovascular mitral valve repair using the MitraClip system;
    • hybrid left ventricular remodeling technology using the Revivent system;
    • heart failure treatment with the use of AccuCinch technology.
  • Educational Center

    The educational center of the RSPC «Cardiology» operates on the basis of a special permit (license) for the right to carry out educational activities, a certificate of state accreditation and has the right to issue documents of the established form of the Republic of Belarus.

    The potential of the Center is aimed at high-quality training of personnel in the framework of the implementation of  educationa programs for advanced training, internships and educational courses for executives and healthcare professionals in topical areas of cardiology. 

    The duration of advanced training is one/two/four weeks (40/80/160 academic hours). Educational programs can be adapted to the needs of trainees.
