Program of early diagnostics of osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is the plague of the 20 century. Osteoporosis is a chronic system disease of osseous tissue, which is characterized by reduction of bone mass and development of disorders of micro architectonics of bone tissue, which leads to bone strength loss and disposition to pathology fractures.
Symptoms of osteoporosis are the following:
Early: undue fatiguability, Pain in bones
Late: down growth > 2sm per year or 4 for life, changes in walk, body posture, skin thinning, brittleness of nails, falling of teeth, ablication, lowering of the quality of life, fractures, physical suffering
The golden standard of diagnostics of osteoporosis is dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, which is carried out at Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy to evaluate the condition of bone tissue. Specialists use the device of the third generation «Lunar» produced by General Electric, USA. The device is digital, within minimal time of scanning at low radiation dose (0,0004 мЗв), it can detect the slightest modifications in bone tissue with a high accuracy till 1,5 %. (weight restriction during the research till 130 kg).
The examination in the frameworks of the program is carried out within one-two days.
The program includes:
- Osteodensitometry «Gold standard» of proximal part of femoral bone and lumbar spine (device of the IIIrd generation «Lunar»)
- Biochemical blood test (total protein, total calcium, ionizable calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase)
- Markers of bone metabolism (cross Laps, osteocalcine, parathormone)
- Consultation with an endocrinologist with determination of prevention measures and prescription of treatment
